Mylar is the strongest coffee bag available providing the most effective performance barrier (when heat sealed) from air, moisture, mold, vapor, odor and light intrusion that you will find that puts Kraft and plastic bags to shame

What is a coffee bag?
What is a Foil Pouch or coffee bag? Mylar pouches are made from several layers of laminated food-grade plastic and aluminum. Food will not react with aluminum because it is separated by a food-grade plastic lining. coffee bag provide good light, moisture, and oxygen barrier to protect the food inside the bag.

What is coffee bag made of?
Mylar is a polyester film made from stretched polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and is used for its high tensile strength, chemical and dimensional stability, transparency, reflectivity, gas and aroma barrier properties, and electrical insulation.

How long can you store food in coffee bag?
Moist foods, such as home or commercially canned goods, in mylar packaging last no more than ten years, but storing moisture-rich foods is not recommended due to the increased likelihood of botulism. Dried foods, like beans and grains, can last 20 to 30 years when stored correctly in sealed foil bags.

Can you freeze coffee bag?
In general, you can freeze food in coffee bag, but only for short-term storage. Otherwise, it is not recommended. This is because putting the coffee bag in a freezer renders the oxygen absorbers used in the coffee bag ineffective,
thereby greatly reducing the shelf life.

Do coffee bag leak?
By comparison, coffee bag will not leak. When used with oxygen absorbers, virtually all oxygen will be removed. Finally, Mylar has a foil layer which blocks 100% of light from coming through. This doesn't mean that vacuum-sealing isn't suitable for food storage.
